What are precious metals?
Precious metals offer valuable insights into the worlds economic health. They are often viewed as a safe haven assets during times of economic turmoil. As market demand is not driven by any individual geography, many investors trade precious metals in order to diversify their portfolio and hedge their positions, even when the markets are down.
Gold
XAU/USD (Gold) is the Gold spot market based on the physical price that gold can be bought or sold at, at a particular point in time. Gold is influenced heavily by supply and demand, as well as US Dollar risk. Spot Gold is very volatile yet an increasingly popular commodity available within the interbank markets.
Silver

Platinum
XPT/USD (Platinum) is a precious metal which is as valuable as Gold per ounce. While Gold is slightly rarer in the Earth’s crust, Platinum is produced in a much smaller quantity. Platinum’s properties as the least reactive known metal and its luster makes it highly sought after. Platinum’s major uses are found as a catalyst in cars and in jewellery.
Palladium
XPD/USD (Palladium) is a similar metal to Platinum in appearance and also its day to day use. It is often used as a replacement for some of the more expensive metals in jewellery and also industrial products. Palladium is produced almost entirely in Russia and South Africa and while Palladium is the fifth rarest element in the earth’s crust, its production volumes exceed that of Platinum. Palladium finds most of its use, like Platinum, in electronics, jewellery and medical related products.
